What to know before you go to work in Local 50’s jurisdiction
Welcome HFIAW Members! If you’ve been listening to the America’s Workforce Union Podcast, you should already be aware of the incredible work opportunities in Columbus and other parts of Central Ohio.
Local 50’s jurisdiction is one of the hottest construction markets in the U.S., thanks to megaprojects, such as Intel, the Honda/LG Electrical Vehicle Battery Plant and multiple data center campuses for tech giants, including Facebook, Google and Amazon.
There are dozens of other unique work opportunities for HFIAW Brothers and Sisters in good standing in this area.
In short, we have plenty of work! If you’re ready to travel to Central Ohio for work, Local 50 will have a contractor ready to immediately put you on a job.
What You Need to Know
To work as a HFIAW traveler in the Local 50 territory, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be a member in good standing
- Willing to travel and work in Central Ohio
- Have proof you have approval from your Local to travel
- Fill out the form on this page
Before contacting Local 50 or Business Manager Dan Poteet, please make sure you’ve completed the form on this page. Once you have submitted the form, a Local 50 officer will reach out to you. Please be aware that due to the current abundance of work, Local 50 leadership is extremely busy.
When arriving, all travelers must provide to their employer:
- Two (2) forms of identification
- Some jobs may require OSHA 10/30 cards and drug testing.
Once again, Local 50 leaders are extremely busy managing the abundance of work, so they will likely be unable to answer phone calls from those seeking more information, especially if you have not completed the above-mentioned steps.
